Plant Production Systems
Profile

I am a Ugandan plant scientist working with the International Institute ofTropical Agriculture. I am interested in tropical perennial crops. My research work focuses on sustainable intensification of perennial cropping systems. I am interested in the physiological aspects of plant production (such as the effects of potassium deficiency on stomatal functioning); plant protection from pests such as banana weevils and Black coffee twig borer; and social aspects (such as empowering farmers to commercialize). I did my Msc Agroforestry at Makerere University, Uganda; and I am writing my PhD thesis about the mechanisms to explain potassium induced tolerance to drought stress in bananas at Wageningen.
