I am a Ugandan PhD Candidate in the Plant Productions Systems Group, working towards tailoring integrated soil fertility management to the contexts of smallholder farmers in banana-based farming systems in East Africa. My research interests are cross-cutting, ranging from understanding patterns of geographical shifts in cropping systems, analysing resource dynamics and interdependencies of smallholder farmers, and designing of stepwise intensification pathways. My work allows me to appreciate the complexity and heterogeneity in smallholder farming systems in Africa, and the importance for site-specific recommendations.
In the Banana Agronomy Project, I am part of the capacity building team responsible for training project partners on how to process and analyse spatial data, and develop good scientific presentations.
